Odds’n'Ends of the Last Month

Okay so these last couple of weeks have been busy….can you tell? The update on a small scale are as follows:

1) Tevye is a rolling master! He gets everywhere. I can’t turn my back without him moving at least 3 feet! See video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pJTNPUgY2E (for some reason it won’t let me actually upload it to the blog so I put it in my youtube page.

2) Aria finished up her second set of swimming classes and loved it! She definitely enjoyed swimming, making friends and loved her teacher.

3) Jessie is back to work up in Fort MacMurray. He is doing quite a bit better then he has in the last long while. Jessie has found a diet that works for him and is managing it very well. He will be gone for two months this rotation because the flights are too crazy expensive this round but we should be good after that to have him home for the regular 3 weeks in and one week out. He also just had his 27th birthday on August 30, which we had to celebrate early cause of him leaving but we had a good time and I made my first gluten free carrot cake, twas delicious.

4) I am doing Belly dancing classes that a friend holds for free at her house. They are really awesome! Meeting a lot of other ladies as well and my friend Amy is coming with me so its tons of fun.

5) Going to be doing an informal photo shoot with some friends and their daughters at a park next week. I am trying to get myself in the same mind set as Jessie so we can start on this photography business sooner, cause hey this could be a job I can do at home as well! Here’s a picture of Aria and three of the girls on a walk we did on Monday, I sort of glamoured it up a bit.BFF

I think that sort of sums it up.  Oh and some exciting news! I don’t know if any of you know who Hayao Miyazaki…the writer and director of movies like Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Friend Totoro….well he’s done it again PONYO is his new one…I am sooo pumped! I love LOVE his films. They are so magical! You can see the trailer here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfjww2cA2FE

That was sort of random. Well til next time!

An Aspiring Photographer

My husband, Jessie, is an aspiring photography who loves nothing more then to sit with a camera and take pictures of the abstract, the unsuspecting and the naturally occuring. At first it was a little awkward cause I was not a huge fan of a camera constantly taking pictures of my every move (because he had an expectation of me being natural and so not looking and pretending like he wasn’t taking pictures of me) but now its pretty normal and I have gotten use to my shark like profile….sort of…hehe

Jessie’s determination and perseverance to achieve the look, the idea, and the quality of photo is very inspiring. He has been very actively doing a lot of reading on the Canon XSI and some of his own photo projects, he even is helping me to learn more about the Canon XSI we own so that we can learn together. We take rather different photos, I am a little more into portraits and dream scenes as he is more for abstract and photojournalistic. But it is something that we do together and enjoy sharing.

Moving to Courtenay, BC we were completely unaware of a photography diploma at the college here in town which proves to be EXACTLY what Jessie has been looking for, for the last two years.  That has been a revitalizing energy for Jessie to get his photography really going and thinking of it in the sense of having to hand in a portfolio. He has been searching the net for forums that can give constructive criticism to his work so he can learn from other photographers of what works and what doesn’t. This has proven to be a little more difficult to find, so he is starting his own Blog site for his photography…you can find it at http://frankpapparazziphotography.wordpress.com

Please check it out, he’s going to keep putting up various posts of his photography and if you know any photographer’s I am sure he would appreciate the contacts! :-)

Aria’s Special Box

WOW I am on a roll with this Blogging thing…I think its cause I actually find some time to do it! lol

Anyway, today while we were waiting for our car to get its check up we went for a walk down to the dollar store and took a look around. Aria seemed quite fascinated with this little wooden treasure box…she almost immediately, after giving the box a look over, opened it up, stuck her hand in her pocket and pulled out some change she had there and stuck it in. I thought to myself “I think this is a keeper”.

So I dug through a bit of the art stuff I kept from the move and decided to paint it so here are some more before and after pictures.

I think its a keeper…YAY! Oh here is a picture of her playing with her new stamp set and sketchbook that I also found at the dollar store for her. Not to mention eating her snack…mmmmm…apple!

Hallows Eve craft time!

Okay so I had about an hour or so with Aria to be able to do ANYTHING half crafty for Halloween with her so I took it for granted… even though I had worked 12 hours that day….it was a good time.

Now I don’t really like to go out and buy my stuff so I looked around the house for what I could use, fortunately because Halloween is a night thing nothing needs to be perfect or detailed SO simplicity is wonderful. But anyways back to craft ideas, I found some grocery bags that were white and stuffed them with other grocery bags, cut the handle of the bags off and drew little faces on them. I used twist ties to close it up as well as to make little hooks on top of them so I could put them in our tree…so here are some pictures

Aria REALLY liked the ghosts.

Not to mention I took some time to draw on our pumpkins so that when we cut them out on Halloween it would take less time. The first set of pictures is what they look like when I was done drawing them and the next is what they were like after they were gutted.

So the first one was mine, the pumpkin had a natural rot spot that looked like a cat so I worked with it, turned out not too bad. The second one was Aria’s and she chose the type of face, I asked her what she wanted and she said “puppy” so it is the puppy pumpkin. The third is Jessie’s which I originally drew cause he wasn’t there and he modified it to his liking. It was fun, except I would have loved a better pairing knife or exacto-blade (sp) ah well!

We also decided that with me at work for the main chunk of trick or treating, and jessie being the only one at home with Aria, we would not take her trick or treating because Jess had to give out candy. Aria helped give candy out and watched Ernest scared stupid which she really liked! :-)
